Coke Vs. Pepsi: We Settled the Cola Debate Once and For All

Coke vs. Pepsi is 1 of the most heated debates in foodie story. We tried these brands, plus six others, in a cola taste try to put this argument to layer.

Growing up, at that place was always a starring debate in my house: Coke vs. Pepsi. My sisters and I were Team Coca-Cola while my mom was very much Team Pepsi; my dad, on the former hand, was very frugal and was Team Generic, Beaver State whatever was on sales event—he'd love these 12 thrifty ways to use pop around the planetary hous! I'm steady that this scenario sounds pretty familiar.

Since we had our biases, we never managed to settle the Coke vs. Pepsi debate at home. We'd totally reach for our favorites in the electric refrigerator and claim that the other options were far inferior. But I realized, we never did a test to sustain whose best-loved brand was major—we just assumed our favorite was best. But possibly if presented with Coke, Pepsi and Dad's cream of the generics, I wouldn't mechanically gravitate toward my favorite. Simply there was only one room to know: to give all of these brands (plus a some spick-and-span ones) a try nowadays.

As fun as IT would be to grab my parents and sisters to give every these colas a try, I decided to enlistee a panel ofTaste of Hometesters instead. I think they'd be a bit less biased than my polarized fam! For this blind test, we gave eight cola brands a try:

  • Blue Sky Cola
  • Coca-Cola
  • Coca-Cola, Mexican-stylus (there is a difference!)
  • Faygo Cola
  • Fentimans Oddment Cola
  • Pepsi
  • RC Cola
  • Sam's Cola (from Walmart)

Have's see how altogether these colas stacked leading and reconcile the debate (hopefully) for good!

Honorable Reference (Small Brand): Dispirited Sky

Scotch: 7/10

Natural brand Bluing Sky emphatically deserves a mention in this test. IT was the only high ranking cola we tested that's sweetened with real cane sugar (not corn syrup). Plus, this beverage is made with just five ingredients. Of flow, it's silent a soft drink so IT's not good for you, but it seems like the slightly better option if you're Thomas More concerned about what goes into your more effete treats.

Flavor-Wise, this cola was unique. Testers definitely got that traditional yellowish brown-Cola taste, but with a hint of vanilla (psst… determine how to stimulate our Genus Cola Cake). As a matter of fact, a few testers said it tasted like a cola-rootle beer hybrid. Sounds good to me!

Honorable Mention (Major Brand): Pepsi

Score: 7.5/10

As one of the big players in the cola brave, I imagined Pepsi would place somewhere in the top. Pepsi got good Simon Marks when it came to fizz (our lower ranking colas got hard up marks for tasting flat, even untwisted out of the bottle or can). However, Pepsi missed the top honors in the screen because IT didn't pack the homophonic level of flavor equally other brands and some testers aforementioned it had a hint of diet soda taste. We scarcely wanted more out of this one.

Hither's why drinks (flatbottomed Pepsi!) taste better with a straw.

Runner-Up: Sam's Prime

Score: 8.8/10

Just shy of the top honor was SAM's Select, a Walmart firebrand. My dad would be pretty happy to know generics are nearly as good as big names (and it's geographical—generics got exceptionally top scores in our biscuit dough test, our water ice cream off sandwich taste test and our chicken tender test).

Sam's Choice got high First Baron Marks of Broughton for its refreshing quality and fizziness. A a couple of testers even hazard guesses on their score sheets asking if this was so Coke. I can attest that this generic cola definitely had some Coca-Cola-like qualities, but at long last wasn't quite a as saporous as the real stuff.

Best in Evidenc: Coca-Cola

Score: 8.9/10

As a traditionalist Coke devotee, I can't sound out I'm surprised by these results! Coca-Cola blew past Pepsi and squeaked past a shucks right generic wine to bring down the top spot in this test. Coke got high Simon Marks for its just-idyllic carbonation, nice gratifying season and overall bracing quality. This is how cola is supposed to taste.

Now, you might be thought that this empanel was full with Coke fans, merely in reality, eventide the self-proclaimed Pepsi-lovers on the empanel ranked Nose candy highest in this near-blind test! Conceive me, they were pretty shocked when the brands were unveiled.

The Takeaways

While the biggest name in cola won this test, the major takeout food here was that you shouldn't leave your personal preferences inexperient. Like I said, therein test Pepsi Cola fans were surprised by how much more than they enjoyed the sample of Coke. However, fans of Mexican Coke (that's Coca-Cola ready-made with sugar cane instead of edible corn sirup) were also stupefied that when tested blindly, they didn't care for it that much.

In the end, this was one of those tests that broke cut down very much of misconceptions for America. (And also will help Maine steady down that age-gray C vs. Pepsi drama with my family.)
